Before the Creality K3 3D Printer, multicolour and multi-material FDM printing has always come with a catch: every colour swap means purging filament through a shared nozzle, which wastes material, adds print time, and risks contamination between colours or materials. The Creality K3 tackles that problem head-on with KliTek™, Creality’s newly developed nozzle-changing architecture, and it’s the first printer built specifically around the technology.

Instead of running multiple filaments through one melt path, KliTek gives each filament its own dedicated nozzle assembly, made up of the nozzle, hotend, and PTFE tube. When the Creality K3 needs to switch colours or materials, it physically swaps in the correct nozzle rather than pushing the new filament through a shared nozzle and purging the old one out. The result is a system that changes nozzles in a satisfying, audible click and gets back to printing almost immediately.

Speed and waste reduction
A nozzle swap completes in under 5 seconds, and a full colour or material change, including preheating, finishes in under 15 seconds. Because there’s no shared melt path to flush, the Creality K3 cuts total filament waste by up to 80% compared to AMS-style multicolour systems. That efficiency also translates into faster overall print times, since the printer isn’t burning cycles on purge sequences between every colour change.

Multi-material and flexible-filament capability
Because each material gets its own dedicated nozzle path, there’s no cross-contamination risk when switching between drastically different filaments in the same print, including soluble or snap-off support materials alongside your primary build material. The Creality K3 is also very capable with soft TPU: it can reliably print TPU down to 80A Shore hardness, well below the ~95A threshold most consumer printers are limited to, and does so at roughly triple the industry-standard flow rate. That opens the door to multi-hardness parts such as rigid shells with soft, flexible inserts printed in a single uninterrupted jobs.

Mixed nozzle diameters in one print
For the first time on a consumer-grade machine, the Creality K3 lets you combine different nozzle diameters within a single print job. Use a fine 0.4 mm nozzle on outer walls to preserve detail, then switch to a high-flow 0.8 mm nozzle for infill to cut print time dramatically, automatically managed and optimized through Creality Print. On larger models, this hybrid approach delivers both a clean finish and a meaningful speed boost, without forcing you to choose one over the other.

Precision and reliability
Reliability is critical for any system built around frequent mechanical swaps, and Creality has engineered accordingly: the K3 carries 37 onboard sensors, 12 of which monitor the nozzle-changing process specifically, and holds repositioning accuracy under 25 microns after each swap; this is tight enough to avoid visible layer shifts or colour misalignment. Each nozzle assembly is also lightweight, weighing about a fifth of a traditional full toolhead, which keeps the print head fast and precise even with the added mechanical complexity.
